Preparation H

Preparation H is the third most popular treatment for haemorrhoids or piles.  It is the only brand to offer a gel and using a gel has advantages over ointments and creams.  The gel lubricates the bottom, to help make it easier for waste material to leave the body – especially if the skin is sore and painful.  Preparation H helps reduce the pain as well as itchiness and soreness.

Preparation H offer three products which are the gel, an ointment and soothing wipes to be used in conjunction with one of the other treatments.

Preparation H clear Gel

Preparation H’s gel works be reducing the size of the enlarged tissues which have been caused by the piles.  It is lubcricated to help make bowel movements easier.  The gel contains Hamamelis water.  This comes from the tree called Witch Hazel.

It is suitable for adults, but you should check with your health care practicitioner before using it with children.  To apply it you rub it around the infected at night, in the morning and after every bowel movement.

Preparation H Ointment

If you would prefer an ointment to the gel, Preparation H offer one.  It is applied in the same way, at night, morning and after bowel movements, by spreading it around the infected bottom area.  It is suitable for adults and OAPs, but you should consult with a doctor before using it on children.

The ointment contains hamamelis water and will efficiently reduce the pain and symptoms of piles.

Preparation H Soothing Wipes

Preparaton H offer soothing wipes, to be used in addition to their gel or ointment.  Each pack contains 30 wipes which utilises Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera
